On the BUCKET EXHIBITIONS blog I wrote extensively about the EXQUISITE TESSELLATION Print project, so what follows is more of a synopsis:
The EXQUISITE TESSELLATIONS was our most widespread print project of 2024. We have handed out "hat" tessellation linoleum tiles to artists -- in New Mexico, El Paso, Tucson and Guadalajara -- for them to carve. Then we can piece the tiles together to make larger prints:
- We made a "Pitch" for an article about the EXQUSITE TESSELLATION Print project to SOUTHWEST CONTEMPORARY magazine of Santa Fe for their HYPERLOCAL issue in March 2025, but no one ever got back to us (not even with a rejection)
We had out first EXQUISITE TESSELLATION Print show at Remarque Print Workshop in Albuquerque in December 2024 to January 2025:
The whole project is based on this "hat" shape -- an APERIODIC MONOTILE -- which has only been known for two years, since the end of 2022. It was discovered by DAVID SMITH, who emailed us back after we let him know about our EXQUISITE TESSELLATION exhibition.
We laser cut linoleum into this "hat" shape,
7 inches at the widest

CARVING
The artists carved in a variety of situation, and sometimes with interesting tools:
See the post on the BUCKET EXHIBITIONS blog for all 12 printmaking sessions. Below are highlighted a few selected tessellation printmaking sessions:
We printed during the drawing session at FUSION in Albuquerque on July 10th:
OTHER PRINTMAKING
There was some other kinds of printmaking going on besides at the big printmaking events:

Tim also 3D printed a 7 inch "hat" shape, which we generated on COOKIE CAD. We could press this into clay, draw designs into it, and kiln them to make ceramic tiles. Then we could piece all the tiles together to make mosaic murals or floor pieces:
