DECEMBER SUMMARY -- 2024

We ended the year on a big note with our first EXQUISITE TESSELLATION Print exhibition at Remarque Print Workshop in Albuquerque.  After the opening I took a harder look at AI ART and was delighted to find TRELLIS, a image-to-3D program. Finally Quelab 3.0 opened up at their new location next to the University of New Mexico in mid-December.  The month ended with a wonderful trip to El Paso:

PRINTS

We ended the year in style with our FIRST EXQUISITE TESSELLATION Print exhibition.  Moreover I emailed DAVID SMITH, the mathematician who discovered the aperiodic "hat" shape, about the exhibition, and he emailed me back:

We ordered a FISKARS FUSE CREATIVITY SYSTEM from Ebay for making small linocut prints.  It folds up and has a handle, so it is somewhat easy to carry around (though it is rather heavy):

AI ART

I fell behind on the newer AI ART innovations somewhat, because I was consumed with printmaking.  But also because it seemed like the AI ART developments were "slowing down", and a lot of my YouTube sources were speculating and discussing innovations that we cannot use.

HOWEVER the new TRELLIS does a great job of converting 2D images into 3D figures:

MIDJOURNEY came out with MOODBOARDS (something like LoRAS), and unlimited generations until the end of the year.  However since Christmas Eve (December 24th), Midjourney censored EVERYTHING I asked it to create in their MOODBOARDS, even though there was no NSFW requests.

I "converted" a lot of the MOODBOARD images into "holograms" to be seen on the Looking Glass Blocks website, and "cast" in holographic 3D on the Looking Glass Go display:

Do innovations in AI ART elude me because I am generating images the wrong way?  I merely chatted with Google Gemini to generate the image of three flying pigs below, rather than use the conventional interfaces like in Discord or Midjourney.  I can even just talk to my laptop using the microphone, like it were Alexa
