Between Taos and Juarez, I traveled up and down the Rio Grande in May, pursuing printmaking. I did not get as many figure drawings as usual since I was traveling until mid-month, May 14th. And I slipped behind AI ART developments, because AI is just getting even weirder.
MISSION ACCOMPLISHED
The PRINTERS PLANET in Taos was like a dress rehearsal for all the other printmaking events that we are planning for the rest of the year. And there we achieved our five goals:
- FISKARS FUSE PRESS -- printing great linocut images with our new hacked press, and giving them away for free
- TORTILLA PRESS -- printing on the adjustable tortilla press
- EXQUISITE TESSELLATION Linocuts -- handing out "hat" linocuts, big and small
- QUICK TESSELLATION PRINTS -- making collaborative tessellation prints from images "gouged" into Expanded PVC Foam with ball point pens
- TEMPORARY TATTOOS -- hand carving rubber and giving temporary tattoos to visitors
JUAREZ
We were invited to show prints at the University of Ciudad Juarez in Mexico in August, opening on August 22, 2025. So I crossed the border and checked out the gallery.

ALTERNATIVE TESSELLATION

I laser cut the above shape at Quelab to ensure that it would tessellate:
- Speed 20
- Power 80
The alternative shape
tessellated great
- Also here is a Geogebra online program that allows one to tessellate the "hat" shapes
AI LINOCUTS
After altering my figure drawings with AI using KREA, I laser engraved 7 of them into linoleum and made prints:
- These prints blend all my pursuits into one product -- my Figure Drawings, AI ART, and Printmaking
AI ART
AI ART is getting stranger and AI progresses daily. I can no longer keep up as the AI ART blogs have splintered into different topics. The trend seems to be going towards a chat based (multi-modal) image generation model, rather than the conventional prompt programs like Midjourney.
AI PRINTS
I made prints from my drawings altered by AI with KREA, by laser engraving them into linoleum:
KREA AI
In the second month of my subscription to KREA, I altered my figure drawings with an AI model I made from my drawings, and posted the results on my blog, often next to the AI results of Deep Dream Generator:

The new "Realismo" model of Deep Dream Generator
does not do much to improve my figure drawings

Perhaps the strangest AI experience was with Google's new Gemini 2.5 Pro Preview 05-06 to make a Three.js animation of one of my abstract figure drawings -- I just followed this YouTube example:
