PRINTERS PLANET TAOS 2025 -- Preparation

Ellie Weadock, Daniel Allen and I are headed up to Taos this weekend to demo prints and hand them out for free at THE PRINTERS PLANET TAOS pop-up print market -- on Saturday and Sunday (May 24-25, 2025), from noon to 6 PM:

 TAOS NEWS

Taos News published an article in TEMPO (May 23, 2025)-- PRINTERS PLANET BRINGS POP-UP MARKET TO THE STABLES

STABLES GALLERY

This is happening at the STABLES GALLERY, on the grounds of the TAOS CENTER FOR THE ARTS -- at 133 Paseo Del Pueblo Norte, Taos:

We will be bringing our new FISKARS Portable Press to make 8x8 inch prints, and give them out for free:

We had a printmaking DRESS REHEARSAL during the figure drawing session at FUSION in Albuquerque, on May 21, 2025, to make sure that the new portable press worked well:

PRINTS

We carved new 6x6 inch linocuts to print on 8x8 inch paper in Taos:

VIRGIL VELASCO

Virgil Velasco carved three linoleums for us to print in Taos:

HENRY MORALES

Henry Morales gave us six linocuts, 6x6 inches square, to print in Taos:

STAMPS

I ordered a couple of custom stamps at Made To Order Stamp & Seal in Albuquerque.

They sold non-toxic Tattoo Inkpads, so I bought three colors and ordered a Roadrunner stamp.  The idea is to stamp on the skin of willing visitors when we demo prints in Taos.  I also bought a Speedy-Carve, which will flex around the skin.  That way we can carve our own images for the temporary tattoos:

I have been wanting to use prints to make temporary tattoos ever since I saw Tres Gatos Press do this in Guadalajara:

I also made a custom stamp with our BUCKET EXHIBITIONS URL on it, to pass out to people during the print markets:

PASSING THE "HATS"
EXQUISITE TESSELLATION Party Prints

I want to pass out Expanded PVC Foam "hat" shapes to the printmakers at the party on Saturday night.  The idea is buy a pitcher of beer, give the artists some ball point pens, and ask them to press an image on the foam tessellation tiles.  Then at the end of the night we could make a big collaborative tessellation print, like we did in El Paso last year.

Adam cut down a big stack of Expanded PVC Foam into tessellation "hats" for me, using the CNC at Quelab, so we have plenty to work with:

The artists do not need sharp and expensive knives to cut into the Expanded PVC Foam -- they can press into the foam with Ball Point Pens and Ball Modeling leather tools:

Ball Point Pens and Ball modeling tools
are all that is needed to press a design into the tessellation foam

Henry Morales pressed into the Expanded PVC Foam to make this wonderful print below, as proof-of-concept:

SOUTHWEST PRINT FIESTA

We will be talking to Kyle in Taos, about the Southwest Print Fiesta 2025 in Silver City, New Mexico. We want to make big STEAMROLLER EXQUISITE TESSELLATION Prints there in October:
