Printmaking -- Bits and Pieces

A lot of printmaking activity is swelling up as the weather gets warmer.  I made this post of the bits-and-pieces to unscramble my brain, and focus on the printmaking future:

CHRIS BARDEY
Tessellation

Chris Bardey of Las Cruces made this EXQUISITE TESSELLATION masterpiece from one tessellation tile:

HENRY MORALES

Henry Morales cannot be stopped. He is busy carving new prints for his exhibition at the Juan Tabo Public Library in Albuquerque (opening May 31st, 2025):

I met Henry and Luis Neri Zagal at Little Bear Coffee on May 15th.  Luis Neri is a Mexican artist who interacted with Diego Rivera and Francisco Toledo:

VIRGIL VELASCO

Virgil Velasco showed me the prints he was working on when I visited him on May 18th, 2025:

HERSTORY

Julianna Kirwin and the HERSTORY Printmaking Collective, wheat pasted prints at Nahalat Shalom in Albuquerque:

UNM

I went by the University of New Mexico printmaking department on May 15, 2025, and revisited this wonderful collaborative student print in the hallway (directed by Yoshiko Shimano I believe):

ANCIENT SILKSCREENING

When I visited Deborah in Hueco Tanks (outside of El Paso) in the beginning of May, she pulled out the silk screen and t-shirts that we made together about 25 years ago:

COLORFUL FUTURE

I bought a lot of Cranfield Caligo Safe Fast Relief printmaking inks at Takach Press on May 16th, 2025, to use in our upcoming print demos:

PRINTERS PLANET TAOS

Elle Weadock and I are going to demo prints at the PRINTERS PLANET in Taos, on May 24th and 25th, 2025, at the Stables Gallery in front of the Taos Center for the Arts:

We exhibited the AMBOS LADOS INTERNATIONAL PRINT EXCHANGE at the Taos Center for the Arts back in 2020:

will be demoing prints in Taos

SOUTHWEST PRINT FIESTA

The Southwest Print Fiesta 2025 is coming up in October, and they just opened their registration for their print exchange:

La Frontera Print Fest

On December 7, 2024, Skuishi and company made a 30 foot print with a steamroller in El Paso during the La Frontera Print Fest 2024:

*****

Martin Quintanilla was part of a big steamroller print in Morelia, Mexico, 2021 on fabric -- where they printed on big Styrofoam plates.  They painted on the Styrofoam, and then poured solvent (paint thinner?) over it -- the solvent only dissolved the Styrofoam that was not covered by paint:

SOME PRINT DUDE

Nick Phan (Some Print Dude) is 3D printing small printing presses -- and he has a YouTube channel:
