Steamroller EXQUISITE TESSELLATIONS

We are looking forward to the SOUTHWEST PRINT FIESTA this October 10th - 13th in Silver City.

The ultimate would be to make big EXQUISITE TESSELLATION prints with a STEAMROLLER.  We can order large 36 x 36 inch sheets of linoleum from Dick Blick.

Then we can laser cut them down into -- 21 inch wide by 15 inch high "hat" shapes (the width/height dimensions I figured out with the "THE HAT" calculator).  Four of those would fit inside a 40 x 40 inch sheet of large paper.

Four big "hat" shapes would look like this when put together:

The basic idea would be to get a big "hat" linoleum carved in Tucson, one carved in El Paso, and another carved in Albuquerque to make a big steamroller print from the Southwest -- echoing the DESERT TRIANGLE PRINT CARPETA project that started 10 years earlier.

OTHER PRINT NEWS

Lisa Casuas gave us a carved "hat" linocut, and I printed it with the new FISKARS portable press at Quelab:

I inked with an older Speedball brayer that Bobbie Fultz gave us. The new Speedball brayers are inferior as they get sticky after being cleaned (apparently because they are made of a different kind of rubber):

Ellie Weadock is pulling spit-bite prints:
