April 11, 2023

The Tuesday Night drawing group of Santa Fe drew both in person and on Zoom at the new Argos Gallery/Studio location. They arranged a hybrid real/virtual drawing session that had started during Covid. I and someone else drew from Albuquerque, someone else drew from Taos:

PRINTS

I first generated a few figures from the drawings of this session, and then uploaded the best to generate more figures, and then used a mix of all those to arrive at an AI figure that I liked, in my drawing style:

Then I uploaded the above image to LightBurn -- downloaded directly from this blog -- and laser engraved this image into a 6x6 inch square of linoleum at Quelab:

3D

I noticed on that on April 9th, Easter Sunday, Leonardo.AI offered the "Texture Generation" an AI texture generation for 3D objects.

"Texture Generation" result in Leonardo.AI

I tried to upload GLB files at first, but that didn't work.  However Leonardo.AI did accept OBJ files.  And it will allow one to download that OBJ file with all the "assets," those "assets" being the JPG files of the textures.  However I can't upload the OBJ file and assets in any other program, to further work with the textured 3D file.

  • The Laserpecker 3 came out at the beginning of this year.  This is a fiber laser engraver that will etch into metal.  However the maximum surface area is 65mm x 65 mm (2.5 inches x 2.5 inches).  Perhaps we can laser engrave metal to make intaglio prints.  Laserpecker 4?

FIRE

There was a huge fire at the end of our block as I entered Quelab to draw this night.  This building also caught on fire on December 21st, 2021
