Digital Experiments

As everything is closed because of Covid 19, I am investing a lot of time digitally manipulating my drawings (many from my book), using free software online, and then further manipulating the images with Photoshop and XnView.

Programs used:
  • Deep Dream Generator
  •  (AI program by Google that transfers the style of one image to another)
  • PaintsChainer
  •  (AI program that colors drawings)
  • Remove.BG
  •  (AI program that removes the background)
  • Vectorizer
  • (converts images into vector SVG files, as well as into DXF and STL)
  • Waifu2x
  • (enlarges resolution, helps for printing web images)
  • 3D This (3D Photo Effects)
  •  (turns 2D images into 3D)
  • Make Sweet
  • (3D logo generator)
  • AnamorphMe!
  •  (downloadable program that stretches images"anamorphically," so that they have to be looked at obliquely)
  • EZGif
  • (turns a series of images into an animated gif)
  • LView Pro
  • (downloaded image editing software -- key: right click exe file, and "run as administrator," license ID 486-434-128-136)
  • Mayan Translator
  •  (translates words into Mayan glyphs)
  • Yandex
  • (the Russian search engine)
  • Baidu
  • (the Chinese search engine)

RUNNING WOMAN

Original drawing

I altered the drawing with Deep Dream Generator
and further edited it in Photoshop
(Searching Google for "visually similar images")

Note:  When searching for the above image on Yandex, the Russian search engine, I get a lot more interesting "visually similar" images than I do by doing a Google search.  Baidu, the Chinese search engine, does not give me any matches for this image at all.

made online in Vectorizer
(also Vectorizer will make STL files)

The image below has been enlarged to 2436 x 2364 pixels, large enough to print, and can be downloaded here (341.33 KB).  The enlargement was done by Waifu2x.

A collage of all my drawings

The floating figure in the foreground above, has been converted into a high relief with "3D This (3D Photo Effects)."  Click on the image below to see the figure in 3D relief.  Download the  OBJ file here.

Download SVG file made in Vectorizer,
and also DXF file (in inches) for the laser cutter

RECAP

The whole process recapped

*****

I outlined a lot of quick sketches from discarded newsprint pads, to see if I could get a more solid drawing.  Then I digitally manipulated the results.

Pattern made from above image using LView Pro,

Note: PNG images have a clear background, and can be downloaded from this blog posting, and pasted on top of other images in Photoshop
