PRINTS
"Year of the Fire Horse"

I carved and proofed my linocut at Quelab on February 18th for the "Year of the Fire Horse":

My tessellation linocut
of a Fire Horse

The proofs are not beautiful,
but good enough to approve for printing with good oil ink

The idea was to make the process as simple as possible.  I used the small Tortilla Press, and carried all the supplies to Quelab in one box.

I proofed the linocuts with Speedball water soluble black relief ink, as that was easier to clean with water.  The Speedball black ink did not work well, probably because it was old, or maybe had been frozen or left out in the car under a hot sun:

The reduced supplies needed
to ink and proof the linocut

but it was probably too old to work smoothly

The next day (February 19th) I passed five horse linocut tessellations to Ellie, to print at CNM on the west side of Albuquerque.  The idea is to exhibit these prints in the East Mountain Public Library in Tijeras, New Mexico in March -- as it is now the "Year of the Fire Horse":

Four tessellation linocuts
fit alright on a piece of Kitakata paper

All five tessellations are a tight squeeze
on a piece of Kitakata paper

Four tessellations on a piece of Amate paper

The Henry Morales big tessellation linocut was first printed with a steamroller during the Southwest Print Fiesta 2025:

Currently Henry Morales is exhibiting his big horse tessellation print at the Juan Tabo Public Library in Albuquerque for the month of February 2026:

Ellie pulled 5 tessellation print masterpieces on February 20th.  We will probably exhibit three of them at the East Mountain Public Library in Tijeras, New Mexico during the month of March:
