February 23, 2021

The Tuesday Night drawing group of Santa Fe drew together online using Zoom, because of the Covid 19 quarantine. Daniel Donnelly from near Chico, California joined us (see the Butte College gallery).  The model was from the Washington DC area.

I drew the model directly in Paint 3D, the free program that comes with Windows 10, using a Wacom tablet.

I downloaded the above Portrait.glb file and converted it into an PLY file in Blender, before uploading it to Voronator (accepts 20 MB max).

I used the "Video Editor" that comes with Windows 10 to add bubbles to the video I made in Paint 3D:

I downloaded the above Run.glb file and converted it into an OBJ file online in Any Conv, before uploading it to Voxelizer.

To animate quickly in Blender:
  • Click “Auto Keying” circle shaped record button in Timeline.
  • Press Space to start recording.
  • Press [G] to move the cube.  Notice keyframes being generated automatically.

I also created music for the above video in Chrome Song Maker  (but couldn't add lyrics with Song Lyrics Generator), and used the online Veed video editor to add the music to the Blender video animation.  EzGif resized it small for me.

First Fiverr

I commissioned pondowolimo from Indonesia on Fiverr to translate one of my drawings into a digital 3D figure, opting for the "Premium" package with modeling, UV map, and rigging.

3D model

I asked him to choose one of the drawing from my book, and I believe he selected the first drawing to work from, to make the 3D model.  He delivered a Blender file in four days.

The 3D model was rigged, so I animated it in Paint 3D and Blender:

I needed to "apply"
the mirror modifiers in Blender
in order to export the whole figure

Here are some YouTube videos of people who hired Fiverr artists:

The Tuesday Night drawing group of Santa Fe drew together online using Zoom, because of the Covid 19 quarantine.  Someone drew from New Orleans while they were celebrating "Yardi Gra" (though it was colder than Albuquerque).

George Redhawk does a better job with this "feel"

The above drawings were altered with Deep Dream Generator, XnView, and Photoshop Elements.

Questlove talks about how J Dilla changed his style with his imprecise dirty drumming.  I think that sometimes we need to paint with more dirty muddy colors, and that goes for computer art too.

The Tuesday Night drawing group of Santa Fe drew together online using Zoom, because of the Covid 19 quarantine.

I uploaded the above drawing to jspaint, for anyone to alter it, and John Tollett added some color --  jspaint is a Github program by Isaiah Odhner that allows one to change tools and colors merely by speaking:

Pushing my Drawing into 3D

After coloring and altering my drawing in Deep Dream Generator (see above), I used it as a template to create a 3D model in Paint 3D (free program bundled with Windows 10), and then animated that 3D model in Blender to make the two videos below.  I also uploaded the 3D model to Clara (sign up for free), where I can edit that model online in the browser, offer it to others for download, and collaborate on the 3D model in real time.

The animation below is not as good as the robotic animals YouTube:

A 3D version of the above is posted on Clara, where is can be edited and downloaded.  Clara is an online 3D program that works in your browser, and is free to join:

Apparently Clara will let two users collaborate on the same image, at the same time, just using their Internet browsers.

UPDATE (Dec 19, 2022):  Clara will shut down at the end of 2022:

Oh why not?  I combined all of the above in Paint 3D to make a video:
