August 7, 2021 -- Tortilla Printing Santa Fe

Manuel Guerra of HORNED TOAD PRINTS came up from El Paso to make prints in Santa Fe -- on a TORTILLA PRESS in front of HECHO A MANO gallery at the top  of Canyon Road, on Saturday afternoon, August 7, 2021:

in Santa Fe

We pressed and gave our free prints to visitors from Washington State, Arizona, Chicago, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Rhode Island, and Mexico City.  Santa Fe draws visitors from around the world.

John Tollett brought a linocut to print on the TORTILLA PRESS, which was featured in the video above.

Many of the Santa Fe Tuesday Night Drawing group artists brought linocuts to print on the TORTILLA PRESS.  As the group has been drawing on Zoom for over a year since the Covid 19 pandemic, it was wonderful to see everyone face to face again:

Later we printed the laser cut version of Rex Barron's piece:

Later that night we went to the opening of Raye Leith at the Peyton Wright Gallery (she also draws in the Tuesday Night Santa Fe drawing group):

Los TRES GATOS PRESS of Guadalajara innovated the TORTILLA PRESS, and also sent two linoleum plates from Guadalajara (via FedEx) for us to print:

Joseph Velasquez of DRIVE BY PRESS built and shipped the tortilla press that we used in Santa Fe.  He also made the video below on how to use the TORTILLA PRESS:

We would like to thank Frank Rose, the owner of HECHO A MANO gallery at the top of Canyon Road in Santa Fe, for letting us print in front of his gallery

ALBUQUERQUE

The previous night -- August 6, 2021 -- we made prints on the streets of Albuquerque, for the August downtown ART WALK.

Horned Toad Prints posted some of the images on their Instagram:

We are coming back to HECHO A MANO on Friday, August 27th, to TORTILLA PRESS Print during the opening of printmaker Alberto Cruz of Oaxaca, 5 - 7 PM.
