October Summary -- focus on AI Art

AI Art (Artificial Intelligence Art) took a quantum leap when Deep Dream Generator added their "Text 2 Dream" option (on September 29th, 2022 I believe), based on Stable Diffusion.

So naturally I started transforming my drawings with "Text 2 Dream":

I even transformed other artists' drawings with "Text 2 Dream":

RICH's life drawing into AI pencil drawing:

Deep Dream Generator (Text 2 Dream)

I transformed KEN ROMIG's drawing, twice, with "Text 2 Dream" in Deep Dream Generator:

Improved VQGAN

I then recycled a lot of the fake AI images I generated last year (2021) in the new "Text 2 Dream" option of Deep Dream Generator:

Exquisite AI

I used "Text 2 Dream" to generate a lot of fake images by famous artists based on the same figure drawing from my book.  Then I made an "Exquisite Corpse" from three of the best transformations:

Below are the three fake image ingredients -- Egon Schiele, Salvador Dali, Robert Williams -- that I cut up to make the AI Exquisite Corpse:

"Text 2 Dream" transformed some of the figure drawings I made in Paint 3D:

I started with a fake drawing in my style that the computer generated last year (2021), and used AI to transfer more style and color to it.  From that drawing I asked "Text 2 Dream" to generate new fake variations by great master artists:

YouTube Videos

I created a lot of short YouTube videos to show off my new AI creations (which can be viewed in sequence on the PLAYLIST):

AI Holograms

Some of the AI generated images lead to good holograms.  I transformed the depth map in the hologram below (right) with "Text 2 Dream."  When I placed it beside the original AI image, generated in Midjourney, it still read as a hologram after I uploaded it to the Looking Glass Portrait display:

PRINTMAKING

We drew in Henry Morales' studio, and printed on his presses immediately afterwards in his studio:

I passed out some 6x6 inch squares of Expanded PVC Foam (which I bought at Port Plastics) on which the artists could draw the model in pen.  By pressing down hard enough on with the pen, they would gouge the PVC foam, essentially carving into the surface, but without a knife.  Then we could ink the foam and make relief prints, as if it were carved linoleum.

Below is the process of creating Rich's print:

Note:  Due to shortages I am having trouble getting the Expanded PVC Foam.  However I was able to order it from Amazon.

The wonderful thing about working with Expanded PVC Foam squares is quick turnaround.  We can pass them out to the artists, let them draw/carve during the figure drawing session, and immediately print the plate with the Tortilla Press.  The artist can walk out with a print in the same session.
