November 17, 2021

We drew live models in the Fine Arts Building at Expo New Mexico (State Fair grounds) in Albuquerque.  Don Johnson Jr sponsored the drawing event during the annual exhibition of the New Mexico Veterans Artists.  This was the first time that the Albuquerque drawing group artists have been together since Covid started.

FAKE
Norman Rockwells

I converted three of my drawings into fake Norman Rockwell images using a VQGAN+CLIP Artificial Intelligence program.  See video to discover which images lead to which Rockwells:

Fake Rockwell,
not Francis Bacon either

Others have inputted "Norman Rockwell" to the AI programs and generated decent results:

November 16, 2021

The Tuesday Night drawing group of Santa Fe drew together online using Zoom, because of the Covid 19 quarantine. The model was from the Washington DC area.

In the video above, Artificial Intelligence turned my short drawings into what it thinks gesture drawings look like.

I had a hard time drawing the clothed model, however John Tollett did a really good job with the same poses.

Hugging Face has a lot of AI programs including two that I used in this blog entry:

I bought an 8 x 8 inch print on Instagram by Celeste de Luna.  It finally arrived on Thursday, though the tracking number said that it arrived on Monday, November 15th:

Airy Figures -- Drawn by the Wind

I cheated to make my figures more "airy."  I used Deep Dream Generator to apply the style of the drawing from the previous blog entry.

I applied the style of this drawing
to get all the altered figures below

However I had FIRST altered this above drawing with "Unsharp Mask."  Thus essentially I altered all the figures below with "Unsharp Mask" using AI instead of Photoshop Elements 2021.

With this particular "style transfer," Deep Dream Generator seems to do the best job with faint drawings.  Therefore I first lightened some of the drawings in Photoshop Elements 2021 by reducing the "Opacity" in "Layers" (about 30%), before uploading to Deep Dream.

I often later blended the result with the original figure in "Layers" in Photoshop to get the best result.

These figures seem more airy and ephemeral, and adds and element of motion.  The variation in line value gives the figures a shallow relief, and often makes them look more elastic.

My aim would be to draw like the wind, both through and around the figures.
