March 7, 2025

During the downtown ABQ Artwalk (March 7, 2025) we drew at the Safe House Distilling Co. again in Albuquerque -- Ben Harrison organized the event:

Drawn on NEWSPRINT

The colored versions below were created with the Old Style Transfer option in Deep Dream Generator, taking the style from the colored Sharpie drawing posted above:

  •  I ordered some Koh-i-noor 4190 6B 2.0 mm Graphite Leads from Amazon.
    • I can no longer find them in the art stores, and it looks like Staedtler is not making them anymore.
    • I noticed that my figure drawings ten years ago were darker, and I think this is because I was using 6B leads

UNM PRINTMAKING

Once again the UNM printmaking department printed t-shirts during the First Friday Artwalk on a press in professor Karsten Creightney's studio in downtown Albuquerque:

HERSTORY

The Herstory Collective had their prints in the windows of the 516 ARTS gallery in downtown Albuquerque:

AI

I cannot keep up with all the AI progress, however this AI program -- QWQ -- intrigues me because apparently it is small enough to run locally (though not on my laptop):
I used the Hugging Face QWQ demo to write a program that allows me to draw straight lines on an image that I upload, up to 1000x1000 pixels (the size of the images on my blog).  It took four iterations, but QWQ successfully wrote the program I wanted -- linesqwq4.html:

I drew the straight red lines over my figure drawing

The problem is that I have to download the program and open it up locally in Chrome in order to get it to draw on the entirely of an image as big as 1000x1000 pixels.

I did embed the code into one of my blog pages, but that may only display part of an image, so I can not draw straight lines through all the image.

    • Again, the QWQ 32b AI program is small, but probably needs at least 12 Gigs of VRAM, and my laptop GTX 1660 ti only has 6 gigs of VRAM

UPDATE (March 9, 2025):  And now there is MANUS AI
