Adam organized a 3D Printer meet up at Quelab on February 18, 2024 at 2 PM (just hours before he got elected to the Quelab board). A lot of 3D printers showed up, it was more fascinating and productive than I imagined.
MULTICOLOR PRINTS
BAMBU X-1
Adam brought his fanciest 3D printer to Quelab -- the Bambu X-1 -- which makes multicolored prints:

3D PRINTED
CERAMICS
Mike's 3D printed ceramic pieces,
plus the clay extruder he designed (triangular piece on the right)
Mike thought that my AI generated figure (in the background) would be hard to 3D print in ceramics because of the overhang of the chin
- Note that even the metal screws were 3D printed in China -- by JLC3DP
- Also check my blog post about 3D printing in clay at UNM
FAST
VORON 3D PRINTER
- Troi said that these machines need a lot of maintenance, even to work out of the box.
ARTICULATED
3D PRINTS
Adam and Ally have been 3D printing a lot of ARTICULATED objects that they downloaded from cults3D:

I would like to create my own articulated 3D figures:

Perhaps I could articulate the trunk on this 3D mammoth below, which was generated in CSM with AI:

3D Scanning
There are a lot of new 3D scanning programs that do a good job creating 3D models:
using 3D Scanner App
Getting even more sophisticated, they can generate 3D scenes from video -- and with the upcoming SORA AI video program by Open AI (which we don't have access to yet), these scenes are really spectacular:

Adric mentioned that GPT can help make 3D prints as well:
LASER CUTTERS
- Previously I bought a Laserpecker 2 (for about $1500)
- I was also jonesing for the X-Tool F1laser cutter ($1600)
With a small VORON 3D printer and a small X-Tool lasercutter, one can carry around a portable hackerspace in a box.
This could be a PORTABLE HACKERSPACE

- YouTube: Auxetic Art (win a 3D printer!)
All these wonderful things
happen at "Quelab"
