Frederico Vigil previously painted many frescos, including a huge fresco in the torreon of the National Hispanic Cultural Center in Albuquerque.  He is also featured on the TV show -- COLORES (Season 21, Episode 26).

In 2009 we started our fresco adventure in Tucson by going to the Mexican border, and buying hydrated lime from a tortilla factory in Nogales, Mexico:

Meanwhile it is worth noting, a HUGE Peter Hurd fresco was moved from Houston Texas to the public library in Artesia, New Mexico around 2012:
