I drew on this vellum paper for ink jet printers with an Ebony pencil. Hopefully this will burn into a silk screen, so that I can make a serigraph of this drawing.
I want to convert this drawing into a serigraph and participate in the Weiner Welcome in Houston on April 21st, before their "It Came from the Bayou" print fair, on Sunday, April 22nd.
I'm getting it done at Proper Printshop in El Paso:
Alan, the co-owner of Proper Printshop ,
pulling a test print on March 31st, 2018
First test on brown wrapping paper
(I like the color)
We made several quick prints on newsprint,
which will help to make screens for the colors
Test print on the final good paper
Second screen. I placed a sheet of OCE vellum on the test print above (of the key color), and outlined certain shapes, then filled them in (April 2nd). The dark areas will be a different color (probably a dirty dark green) in the final print.
Ready to burn a second screen,
with the vellum above
Alan pulling the test print of green,
April 3rd
Dark green test print
One more screen to burn
Taped rectangle,
for underlying red color
Production begins,
April 5th
Production continues,
April 6th
Tri Color, so far
"Aren't You Glad This Print Is Not By You"
Fuzzy final print, but we shifted and double printed the black key color
to give it a noisier feel
Thank you Proper Printshop,
for indulging me,
and letting me print more punk than proper,
fuzzy edges and all
The print has already been Fed-Exed to Houston, for the Wiener Welcome on April 21st, right before the "It Came from the Bayou" print extravaganza.
And I collected a lot of nice prints at the 7th annual "It Came from the Bayou" print fair the next day.
Love the new vellum technique! And the background. Great stuff!
