I had proofs made at
New Grounds Print Workshop in Albuquerque, from 2 laser cuts. My drawing was laser cut into the wood, by
Heat Sync Labs, in the first woodblock print:

In the second proof, the laser at
FabLabAbq cut away all the area around the figure drawing, leaving a raised line, and thus making an inverse of the above image:

After converting a scan of a newsprint drawing, we sent a vector image to the laser cutter. The prints came out better than I expected, but there is still a lot of artistic work that needs to be done to bring the image up to par with traditional handcut woodblock prints.
