The San Francisco Art Institute is my favorite building in the world, and has a beautiful terrace overlooking both Alcatraz and downtown. I took a couple of drawing classes there in the early 80s -- unfortunately it closed in 2022:
“The minute I walked through the archway on Chestnut Street,” said alumna Felicita Norris, “I saw all this amazing art in the courtyard. A chill came over my body and I knew that this was the place where I needed to be.”
True story -- I discovered that "chill" and signed up for The San Francisco Art Institute right after I saw this pitch from none other than Father Guido Sarducci:
