2D to 3D

**  I used RGBD Photo to create a HOLOGRAM slideshow for the Looking Glass Portrait display of the 50 images above, which can be downloaded:  230225__HOP.zip  (41 MB)

However the next step is to use AI to convert the 2D sculpture images above into 3D files (like GLB) -- like I did in the "Text-to-3D" blog post last year.

I accessed the Point-e Demo to do that with images 22, 36, 37 and 50:

Images 22, 36, 37 and 50
have been converted into 3D files
to make a composite Blender scene

Files for Download:

The result wasn't beautiful, but still thrilling that I can go from 2D to 3D.

I converted image 36 into a 3D file
using the Point-e Demo

I also then "textured" the 3D model in Paint 3D using the 2D JPG of the source AI sculpture 36:

"Textured" 3D object
of the 2D sculpture AI image 36

The result above isn't pretty either, but AI is only going to get better -- as I also signed up for the Leonardo.AI waiting list for the "Text-to-Texture" program, to wrap 3D files with colors and images using AI.  The 3D process could be all automated in the near future ~ like Luma AI?
  • TEXTure on Hugging Face (does not work for me)

Control Net is a big deal now with AI, but I'm not exactly sure how I can use it yet:
