Ben Harrison from the Albuquerque drawing group, has a big painting in the window of the abandoned Kress building at the moment, in downtown Albuquerque.
The previous Sunday (December 6th) I found David Kirwin showing his horror art downtown as all the lowriders were cruising Central. There was no foot traffic though.

John Tollett made a great "Featured Artist" posting on the A Gallery Somewhere website, about Greta Young from the Santa Fe drawing group.
I recently re-read and enjoyed Eli Levin's books:
Eli Levin founded the Santa Fe drawing group in 1969, making it the oldest continuously running figure drawing group at the moment (John Sloan's drawing group is older, but no longer exists). I started attending in the summer of 2016, the last year that Eli ran the sessions. The group still meets at the Argos Studio/Gallery in Santa Fe, run by Eric Thomson, and continues online during the Covid lockdowns, directed by Holly Grimm (the drawings in this posting were done from the online group).
Eli signed my copy of his book, and later I moved back to Albuquerque. Since 2016 I continued to drive up to draw in Santa Fe, often twice a week. And in 2019 we showed our prints, including one of Eli's contributions, at the Argos Studio/Gallery, for the Ambos Lados International Print Exchange.

Eli's books reveal the charm of a substantial and intimate art community of the 20th century, in the days before the Internet. During our Covid pause I'm confronting what a difference 40 plus years makes, and it's quite sobering to contemplate the changes.
